In the early morning hours of May 27th, 2021, Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Klamath Falls Police Department officers responded to shooting which occurred near the 6000 block of Shasta Way, Klamath Falls, Oregon. A gunshot wound victim was located and transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center by Klamath County Fire District #1. The victim suffered serious injury and is recovering.
The subsequent investigation developed William Holder, of Modesto, California, as a suspect in the shooting. Holder fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement and shortly afterwards left the state. Due to the out of state flight by the suspect, the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force (Medford Field Office) was contacted to assist in locating and apprehending Holder on a charge of Attempted Murder. With their assistance, lines of communication were opened with multiple California law enforcement agencies in an effort to bring Holder into custody.
On June 29th, 2021, the interagency teamwork paid off; Holder was arrested in Modesto, California by members of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Special Investigations Unit, the Modesto Police Department, and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force (Fresno Field Office).
The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office greatly appreciates the assistance from our partner agencies in law enforcement, both local and federal, who put a significant amount of time and effort into achieving this outcome.
