A note and update from the KFCS Superintendent

We were all surprised by the Governors change in direction on school opening and her order to implement mandatory masking in Oregon Public Schools last month. We are working with our state elected officials to grant KFCS local control. The facts are that we currently do not have local control on Covid-19 / Delta Variant related matters. We encourage anyone with concerns on the Governors mandates in regard to Covid-19 to communicate with our State level elected officials, Governor Brown and the Oregon Department of Education.

The Governor’s “Ready Schools, Safe Learners Resiliency Framework” is very punitive for our employees and school district if violated. Please CLICK HERE to read this document.

We are very excited that we are allowed to begin the school year with students in school. We have a lot of work to do to get all of your students back on track after the Covid-19 shutdown. We look forward to all of our students returning to school and starting the recovery process.

We welcome all students in Klamath County to register for school at KFCS to receive a world class education. If you are interested in a first-class education and a hometown school district that provides highly qualified, caring staff members with opportunities normally only provided in large school districts, you have come to the right place. We maintain the “small town” feel while embracing innovative programs, rigorous curriculum and technology that sets us apart form school districts in our area.

For those families who are opposed to the Governors masking mandate we have another option. Klamath Falls City Schools is excited to offer families a new education option as an alternative to a typical school environment. Option 1: Teacher-Led Real-Time Learning This option is available for Kindergarten-8th grade students. It is the perfect option for families who want a blend of teacher-directed learning in their home while also being actively involved in their child’s education. Families who select this option will receive:

Option 2: Self-directed computer-led Instruction This option is available for 3rd-8th grade students. This is the ideal option for families frequently on the go, or for students who learn best with technology and need to learn at their own pace. It is a computer-based learning option for students with frequent teacher check-ins. KHLA has partnered with Odsseyware to provide this option to our families. Families who select this option will receive:
