History of local food production – Free First Friday at Klamath County Museum

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The history of local food processing and marketing in the Klamath Basin will be presented Friday, Jan. 5, at the Klamath County Museum.

The presentation will be given at noon, and again at 6:30 p.m., as part of the museum’s Free First Friday program. Admission fees will be waived all day Friday, with extended hours being offered from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“Not all that long ago, meat, milk and eggs were all produced and packaged locally by homegrown businesses,” said Todd Kepple, museum director. “Over the years, the bulk of that process has been transferred outside the area.”

Examples of local businesses that will be referenced include the Gooding Egg Farm, Bratton Packing, and the Crater Lake Creamery.

Local poets and poetry in history will be the subject of a program on the first Friday of February.

For more information contact the museum at (541) 882-1000.
