Klamath Falls Police department learn of reported threat to KU High School

On the morning of January 11, 2024, Klamath Falls Police Department learned of a report of a threat towards Klamath Union High School. It was reported that an unknown person in a Klamath Union High School 2025 Snapchat group chat, posted a statement of violence involving a firearm for January 11. Officers and detectives from the Klamath Falls Police Department in conjunction with the school administration, provided uniform and non-uniform personnel to be present inside and outside the school to assure the safety of the students.

Officers were able to quickly contact Snapchat and request information that assisted in identifying the responsible person based on the immediate threat of harm. Snapchat gave officers information that led them to a 16-year-old male juvenile who posted the threat. Within hours the juvenile was located and arrested for Disorderly Conduct I and lodged at the Klamath County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Klamath Falls Police Department does not take threats against the safety of our youth lightly and will continue to work diligently and efficiently to protect the community and schools.
