Bill Collier Ice Arena Seeking Donations To Help With Repairs Needed For Opening

The Bill Collier Ice Arena at Running Y Resort is in need of donations to keep the rink open. During the preparations to switch the rink from summer roller skating to laying out the winter ice, it was discovered that a compressor unit needs repaired and one of their two brine pumps has failed. According to a recent social media post on Facebook, the rink says it may have to halt operations permanently without the donations.

The rink is available year round for the community, and they have a goal set to raise $50,000 to assist with repair costs. Donation information is available in the graphic below or visit the rink Facebook Page.

Currently, the winter ice skating season is delayed while repairs are waiting to be made.

From the board members at the Bill Collier Ice Arena;

The Bill Collier Ice Arena is an extraordinary facility and a true cornerstone of the Klamath Basin community. Featuring an NHL-sized ice rink, it’s a one-of-a-kind venue on the West Coast, offering year-round programs that foster youth development, community involvement, and athletic excellence. From hockey and figure skating in the winter to roller skating and summer camps, the arena plays a vital role in bringing people together, inspiring teamwork, creating lasting memories for all who visit, and fostering a sense of community.

As we navigate uncertain times, one thing remains constant: our unwavering passion for bringing people together through winter and summer activities and the community they foster. The Bill Collier Ice Arena isn’t just an ice arena or roller skating rink; It’s a sanctuary for countless individuals – from aspiring figure skaters to hockey players to families seeking wholesome recreation. It’s where bonds are formed, dreams take flight, and lifelong memories are etched into the very ice beneath our skates.

Today, I reach out to you with a plea from the heart – To ensure the continuity of the Bill Collier Ice Arena, our beloved arena where we come together as a community throughout the year. We are facing a critical challenge; one that could halt operations permanently. As we began our pre-season maintenance, an issue with one of our compressors was brought to our attention. We are unable to move forward until the compressor leak is repaired. The compressors are a pivotal piece of equipment, needed to make and maintain the ice sheet. Additionally, another crucial piece of equipment, one of our two brine pumps has failed. Our current pump is 22 years old. Without the brine pumps we can not maintain the ice and keep the arena operational.

This is more than just an equipment failure – it’s about preserving a place that brings so much joy to our community. The arena is a place where people can be active, a place where teamwork and hard work are taught, and a safe, welcoming environment for families. Losing the arena would be a devastating loss for our community and the countless individuals who rely on it.

We are urgently asking for your support in raising $50,000! These funds are needed to make the essential repairs and keep our arena open. We believe that with your support, we can keep the ice arena open for many years. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. By donating, you’re helping to preserve a space many hold close to their heart, one where forever memories are made.

Please consider making a donation today! Your generosity will directly impact the future of our ice arena and the community it serves.

Thank you for your support and belief in the value of the Bill Collier Ice Arena. Together, we can ensure it continues to thrive for many years to come.
