Klamath Falls Cracks Down on Visual Clutter With New Banner Enforcement

KLAMATH FALLS, OR – December 10, 2025  The City of Klamath Falls will shortly begin formal enforcement of temporary Feather Banner signs. This effort focuses on maintaining the appearance and safety of Klamath Falls’ commercial corridors.

Feather Banner signs are tall, vertical fabric banners typically seen along arterial streets and commercial driveways. Under the Klamath Falls Community Development Ordinance (CDO), Feather Banners are classified as temporary signs and may be displayed only with a valid Temporary Sign Permit, except in the Downtown Business Zone and within public rights-of-way, where they are prohibited.

Feather Banners are intended for short-term promotion of special events or sales. When used daily, they deteriorate and can create visual clutter along major corridors such as S Sixth Street and Washburn Way. Enforcing sign standards helps preserve community appearance, supports compliant businesses, and improves safety and visibility for drivers and pedestrians.

Businesses wishing to display Feather Banners must apply for a Temporary Sign Permit from the Development Services Department before placement. Applications are available online at https://klamathfalls.city/169/Planning or in person at Historic City Hall, 226 S 5th Street.

For questions about sign regulations or how to bring your business into compliance, please call (541) 883-4950 or send an email to DevServices@klamathfalls.city.
