Christmas snow storm could impact travel in Cascades and Northern California

weather outlook

A snow storm is expected to impact travel mainly in Northern California on Christmas day in the late afternoon and overnight.

Looks like some locations will have a white Christmas! Most of the snow will fall during Christmas evening. We’ll see roughly 8 to 12 inches over the higher California terrain with localized peaks seeing up to 2 feet of snow. Mt Shasta City will likely see snow Christmas evening into Christmas night with 4 – 6 inches in the forecast. The Cascades will see between eight to twelve inches of fresh snow with this winter weather event. If you are traveling through northern California over above 4000 feet on Christmas, then prepare for winter travel !
