Salem, OR – State Representatives E. Werner Reschke (R-Klamath Falls) and Emily McIntire (R-Eagle Point) are pleased to announce the restoration of funding for the Science and Technology Academies Reinforcing Basic Aviation and Space (STARBASE) program following the bipartisan passage of the Continuing Resolution in the U.S. Congress. STARBASE is a U.S. Department of Defense youth program and a leading innovator in providing unforgettable and meaningful science, technology, engineering, and math learning experiences for young students. STARBASE creates an educational playground that is full of practical, hands-on activities that excite kids, spark their imaginations, build confidence, and nurture a life-long ability to learn.

“A huge shoutout to Col. Adam Gaudinski for bringing this program to our attention and advocating for its continued funding. STARBASE is a one-of-a-kind STEM program that exposes our kids to ideas with hands-on experience they don’t always get in school, encouraging learning and igniting a passion for science and creativity. “I am so thankful we are keeping this funding for our kids and communities!” said Rep. McIntire.

“When we learned that funding had stopped for this important program, Representative McIntire and I went to work contacting the key legislators, the Governor, our Federal partners and the Oregon Military Department, advocating restoring funding. Since the 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field is the local host to STARBASE, we are pleased to see that the bipartisan Continuing Resolution passed by Congress will restore funding for STARBASE,” said Rep.Reschke.

The Continuing Resolution with the STARBASE funding passed the House of Representatives in Washington DC earlier this week and cleared the Senate yesterday with bipartisan support. It now heads to the President’s desk for his signature.

E. Werner Reschke and Emily McIntire are State Representatives who represent different areas of Klamath County — House Districts 55 & 56.
