Animal Control Operations Update – August 2025
Klamath County Sheriff’s Office
Dear Klamath County Residents,
Due to the removal of all county general fund dollars from Animal Control for this fiscal year, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office has experienced a significant reduction in staffing. This includes the loss of three Animal Control Deputy positions and one Animal Control Clerk position. The Animal Control Division now operates with only two Animal Control Clerks.
To continue serving the community in some capacity, we have restructured operations and adjusted public hours. Beginning August 1, 2025, the Animal Control Office will be open to the public from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, aligning with Klamath Animal Shelter hours.
Additionally, one clerk will be reassigned to animal control field duties, responding to as many domestic animal-related calls for service as possible. The second clerk will remain in the office to assist with licensing, redemptions, and general public inquiries.
Please note:
Expect reduced service levels due to this funding cut.
We encourage the public to use online, mail-in, or drop box options for licensing.
We will soon offer online reporting tools and AI-assisted phone support for FAQs.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this transition.

Oh no. The department was always substandard now the lack of violations for animal behavior will quadruple. But to the officers from this dept who were laid off……see what happens to people who remove a disabled vet from their home? First you removed his beloved pets. Just two friends that kept him sane but you didnt care about his mental health. He is still homelsss today after losing hope when he lost his beloved animals that he had for nearly a decade. Cold hearted people are in every field of work i guess.
Heartless and cruel people run klamath animal control. I say thisfrom personal experience.
