Klamath County Pop Warner had an unfortunate incident tonight in the last few minutes remaining in D1 game. Players were reporting to their coaches that a jr official across the field was using racial slurs and poor language. The head official stopped the game and addressed this with the other officials none of them heard those words being spoken. When KCPW admin on field looked into it shortly after. Shelly, program director, went first to the white hat official to find out the details. After the report was given that it was not said by the jr official. Shelly tried to stand sideline to maybe see if another player, coach, or parent perhaps may have been using racial slurs. She also asked the opposing team if the jr official had spoken to any of the players at any point. Those coaches, team moms, and players reported he had been silent. With no one to verify where these words were coming from, there really could not be any action taken against a jr official, who would have no reason to talk to any players.

When siblings of the players and Mazama parents began walking on field and approaching the jr official after the game, both parents, officials, and KCPW admin had many heated words that didn’t seem to be resolving, law enforcement had to be called to resolve the situation.

KCPW does not tolerate racial slurs of any kind and we are aware that it does happen however:

An angry group of parents coming after a minor jr official after a game can not be tolerated.

Parents have the right to opinions or be upset but we can not have them enter the field and come after officials at any point. They need to reach out to their school coordinator or reach out via email to the KCPW board.

Remember the Code of Conduct and there are better steps to be taken when you have complaints.

Games and the Cheer Showcase will go on as planned tomorrow. All spectators that do not have KCPW coach, cheer, or team mom badges need to stay in the stands.

Please, let’s all try to finish out the 2025 season with a great Cheer Showcase and support all our great cheerleaders that have worked so hard all season cheering for our KCPW players. They’ve worked so hard cheering and running gate in the hot sun, rain, wind, and cold for 9 long weeks. Come on football coaches and players, it’s your time to cheer them on!

And end-of-season KCPW board meeting will be posted in the next few weeks. ANYONE who would like to volunteer and/or help our 100% volunteer league run can attend.
