On December 17, 2025, Klamath County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries in the area of Washburn Way and Laverne Avenue. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian in an electric wheelchair at the location.
The on-scene investigation determined that an electric wheelchair operated by Charles Miller, 76, of Klamath Falls, was attempting to cross Washburn Way outside of the marked crosswalk when a 2007 Ford F150 operated by Felix Gonzalez-Garcia, 53, of Klamath Falls, struck the wheelchair and its operator (Miller).
The wheelchair operator (Miller) was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center where he was declared deceased.
The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Klamath County Fire District #1, the Klamath Falls Police Department, and Oregon State Police.
