Klamath Alerts Photo Contest Rules To Participate
The goal of our monthly photo contest is to have fun and promote a sense of community. The calendar produced at the end of the year will be sold for a fund raiser to support our news organization and services that we provide. The calendar will be one of a kind, and decided by our followers. Each monthly winner will have their photo featured in our upcoming Klamath County wall calendar and receive a free copy when it is printed at the end of the year.
How to participate:
Each month we will open up photo submissions on the Klamath Alerts Facebook page. Please watch our page for important announcements regarding the contest and for notifications of when to enter. Submit your photo on Facebook when we announce that entries are accepted each month. This will generally be the 2nd week of each month. In November there will be two submission periods so that we can be ready to print our calendar in December.
The Rules:
The contest is open to anyone with a valid Facebook account. We request that you “like” our Facebook page to participate.
All contest entries must be submitted during time we announce. Staff and admins of Klamath Alerts may not participate in voting process for the contest.
One photo may be submitted per month per photographer during the open submission period we announce on our Facebook page. This is usually the 2nd week of each month.
Entrants may vote on their own photo, but please do not engage in any kind of artificial voting tactics such as asking friends to vote for your photo specifically etc. Feel free to share the contest and encourage your friends and family to enter photos.
Important: The winner agrees to grant Klamath Alerts and Oregon Air Photos permission to use their photo for marketing purposes of the contest, post that photo on any of our social media and or website locations AND print the photo one time in the next Klamath County wall calendar we produce. The calendar will be offered for sale and all proceeds from the sales will be used to support our news agency and cover the costs of running the contest.
All decisions regarding winners are at the sole and final discretion of Klamath Alerts staff and our admin team. Any potential ties in the contest will also be decided by our team.
The winner of our contest each month will need to send (to us) a high resolution version of the winning photo suitable for printing on a calendar. Most modern smartphones and cameras meet this requirement. Note: In the event the winner is unable to provide a high resolution copy of their photograph we reserve the right to select an alternate photo for placement in the calendar. We also reserve the right to edit the photo for sizing and fit in the calendar if needed. Winning photos will be inserted into the calendar month we choose based on editing needs.
Submitted Photo Requirements
All photos should be in good taste, family friendly, non political, and exclude sexual, indecent, and or obscene content. A little common sense goes along way here. We are looking for photos suitable for printing in a calendar that everyone can enjoy.
The photo must be taken in Klamath County (Tulelake and immediate surrounding areas such as The Lava Beds are ok!) by the submitting photographer.
The submitting photographer must have written permission of any identifiable persons in the photograph, and must forward this written permission to us if the photo is voted as a winner.
Each photo submitted should be one photo only, with no text or watermark. No memes or groups of photos will be accepted. Photos containing business advertising will not be permitted.
We reserve the right to refuse any submission for any reason.
Drone photography is encouraged and accepted. We ask that you don’t violate any of the FAA rules to obtain a photo. Find out more about drone rules here.
Each photo submitted should have a caption added (in the comments section of Facebook under your photo) with month/date/year taken, general photo description with location it was shot.
The Prize
Monthly Prize: (12 issued in total each year) Each month, the winning photo with the most votes (likes on our Facebook page) will “win” and secure a placement of the photo for one month in our next upcoming Klamath County wall calendar. Additionally, we will provide the winning photographer (1) free calendar including mailing costs to anywhere in the lower 48 states when the calendar is printed at the end of the year.
Grand Prize: At the end of each year (and just before our calendar is printed) we will post all 12 winning photos on our Facebook page and allow a vote for “best of the best”. The photographer with the highest number of votes will have their photo featured on the calendar cover AND win a free 1 year subscription to our breaking news app.
This contest is for fun only and there is no cash value or cash redemption offered. The contest is open to any of our audience but we ask the photos be taken in Klamath County, or the immediate local surrounding areas such as Tulelake, Lava Beds, etc.
