An unusually strong cold front passed through the region today causing downed trees, power lines, and even closed Interstate 84 earlier today.

Reports of downed trees came in all afternoon from around the area. A tree was reported down at Highway 140 West near milepost 37. Many trees and power lines were reported down in the Merrill and Malin area. Several reports of roof damage were reported as well.

This afternoon, Pacific Power reported 547 customers without power in Klamath County. Most in the Merrill/Malin area and Chiloquin area. 21,323 customer outages were reported state wide.

Interstate 84 closed this afternoon between Pendleton and Baker City due to extreme weather and wind conditions. There were also reports of road closures at the coast due to high winds and rain in the Bandon area.

Mt. Ashland Ski Resort closed early this morning due to high winds.

Another storm is headed our way and we may begin to feel the effects of it tomorrow night. This storm is forecast to move slower and put down more precipitation with snow levels around 6,000 feet as it arrives. The NWS in Medford says the wet and windy pattern should continue at least into next week.
