On January 24th, 2019 at about 10:30 a.m., Medford Police officers and rescue personnel were dispatched to a person trapped underneath a vehicle in the parking lot of Banner Bank, 2600 E. Barnett Road.

A Medford Police Officer arrived within minutes but could not free the female who was trapped under a tire of the vehicle. Medford Fire and Rescue responded and used the Jaws of Life to lift the vehicle off of the woman. She was rushed to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center where she was was pronounced deceased. Her next of kin have been notified.

The investigation revealed that the decedent, Judy Griffin, 69 years old, worked for the Rogue Valley Mannor to shuttle clients around town. She arrived at the bank with two elderly passengers who needed walkers from the trunk. When Griffin stepped out of the vehicle, it rolled backwards knocking her to the ground. The 2005 Buick LeSabre then rolled over her, trapping her under the driver’s side front tire. It is believed she did not get the vehicle fully into park.

There is no evidence of intoxication or vehicle malfunction, however the case remains under investigation.
