Bryant Mountain Machine Piles: Crews will be conducting controlled burns scheduled October 17th located 4 miles east and south of Malin, and 20 miles southeast of Klamath Falls in the Bryant Mountain area.
About 600 acres are expected to be treated and smoke could be visible from Malin and Highway 39. (Weather Permitting)
The prescribed fire activities will:
●Remove hazardous fuels within the WUI (Wildland Urban Interface).
●Improve firefighter safety during future suppression activities.
●Improve wildlife habitat for mule deer winter range.
For visitor and firefighter safety:
●Watch for prescribed fire signs in the area
●Be aware of smoke in the area both during and after ignitions, which may affect visibility on area
roads
●Increased fire personnel and vehicles in the area.
