Veterans To Be Honored With Parade, Free Food, And More!
Klamath Alerts salutes our Veterans! From all of us, thank you for your service to our country. Klamath Alerts is also a veteran owned and operated independent news organization. Here is a list of some activities and promotions honoring our veterans.
Parade Downtown Klamath Falls
On Monday, November 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the Veterans Day Parade will be conducted in Downtown Klamath Falls. The staging area will be on Spring Street south of Main Street. From there, the parade will begin on Main Street and commence to Veterans Park where the parade will disband. Main Street will be closed for the duration of the parade. Please plan your routes accordingly and proceed with caution.
F-15 Flyovers
There will be F-15 fighter jet flyovers throughout Oregon from our local 173rd at Kingsley. We posted about this earlier today here.
Free Food For Veterans
Various restaurants will be offering free food to our veterans throughout the day. We have been contacted by The Chicken Shack who would like everyone to know they are among the many locations in Klamath Falls offering discounted or free food.
Chicken Shack – Monday November 11 for Veterans day we would love all and any Veterans to come in and have a $8.50 credit off your meal of choice. Please bring your ID. Danny Vest, Sysco of Portland and Furniture Legacy has teamed up with us to show our appreciation for your service. Thank you for your sacrifices you have made and thank you for your service to our great country! Note: This will be going on ALL DAY on Veterans day.
Amazon Prime – This year Amazon has offered all veterans a discounted prime membership ($40 off) even if you already have it. November 11th is the deadline so you will have to act fast. For those who have an active subscription, you can add an additional year to it at the discounted price. Click here for more information about the Amazon Prime deal.
According to nationwide advertising, national chain restaurants such as Applebees, Denny’s, Subway, and others will be offering either free or discounted food to our vets. The VA has posted a nice list of discounts and promotions for our veterans here. Veterans Day discounts 2019

Get Your Klamath County Veterans I.D. Card – If you are a veteran and have not yet obtained your free Klamath County Veteran I.D. card it only takes a few minutes. Take your DD214 down to the Klamath County Courthouse and they will issue you a card that can be used at many local businesses for discounts year round. Visit this website and click on the links on the top left for a list of discounts and an application you can fill out at home and take to the courthouse. All you need is your DD214 and a copy of the completed application. Go to the courthouse (on the right side of Main Street) and visit the clerk who will promptly issue you a free card. (Note: they are likely closed this Monday for the holiday)
