The Sheriff’s Office has acquired a disaster relief trailer for pets. The trailer was able to be purchased with significant funding from Klamath Dog Fanciers and a grant from AKC.

The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office working with the Klamath Dog Fanciers were successful, through a grant with the American Kennel Club (AKC), in acquiring a new emergency response trailer that will be used during disasters to house and care for large numbers of pets that may be displaced during significant events.

The new trailer comes fully equipped with 50 animal crates, generator, pressure washer, lights, pop up canopy, fans, microchips, microchip scanner, safety equipment for the helpers, and pretty much anything else needed in an animal emergency.

The trailer was shown to the local press at an event this afternoon in Klamath Falls. A special thanks to Julie Snyder for help with this report.
