On February 9th, 2020 at about 2:15pm, shed horn hunters located human remains in a remote area west of the Agriculture Inspection Station off State Route 139 in Modoc County.

Based on evidence at the scene, the remains are believed to be those of Cole Griffin, age 22 of Reno. Griffin had been reported missing November 19th, 2019. A Modoc County Sheriff Deputy found Griffin’s vehicle the same day he was reported missing on a roadway in northern Modoc County.

Griffin’s family has been notified and his remains are currently being examined by Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm his identity and cause of death.
