Important Update: Please do not call 911 for evacuation information. There is a command post now setup at Kla-Mo-Ya Casino. Red Cross is setting up a shelter at that location as well. 

A fire that is spreading rapidly is now threatening Collier Park Campground and Williamson River Campground areas. Emergency evacuations now underway. The fire is reported to be spreading to the south rapidly and starting new spot fires.

The fire is reported to be running at 30mph southbound from the 9730 Forest Service Road near mile post 242.

Highway 97 will likely have to be closed soon in the area.

7:18pm – Emergency crews are standing by to close Highway 97 down in the area of the fire. They are in the process of closing the highway now.

7:49pm – Additional evacuations are being looked at in the Woodland area now (Williamson River Neighborhoods). The KCSO or OSP will contact anyone who needs to be evacuated.

7:55pm – Two Four Two is burning near Collier Springs off Hwy 97.

The highway is now closed around milepost 242. Klamath County Sheriff & local fire departments are working on evacuations.
The fire is estimated to be 10-15 acres with short-range spotting and pushing to the south. Also Red Cross is being dispatched to the Kla-Mo-Ya Casino.
8:30pm – ODOT reports HWY 97 closed between Mile post 241 to 249.
