City of Klamath Falls has new police Chief.

KLAMATH FALLS, OR – May 6, 2021

Former Police Chief David Henslee announced his plans for retirement to the Community in January. The City of Klamath Falls initiated a nationwide recruiting process for his replacement and received numerous resumes from around the Country. After screening interviews, four candidates were selected as finalists with one candidate withdrawing prior to the interview process.

The three remaining finalists went through a two-day series of interviews and presentations. The process included a formal citizens’ panel, a public open house, Police Department employees, law enforcement executives from around the state, and the City’s Executive Team.

After carefully considering all the input and the candidates’ qualifications, the City Manager offered the position to Captain Robert Dentinger, of the Klamath Falls Police Department and he accepted the position.

Chief Dentinger will assume the office immediately.

Mr. Dentinger has worked in law enforcement since 1996, all with the City of Klamath Falls. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Christian University in Management and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

The City thanks all those who participated in the process and provided input.

Congratulations to Chief Dentinger!
