BONANZA, Ore. – The Cutoff Fire is currently burning on private, and BLM protected land approximately 6 miles north of Bonanza. The fire was reported at 1:30 p.m.  

The fire is approximately 100 acres and rapidly spreading to the east, towards the Wren subdivision, with the majority of the fire on BLM lands. The fire cause is under investigation. There are multiple air and wildland resources working on the fire.

At this time approximately 120 structures are threatened.  Residents in the area should monitor current evacuation status as this incident progresses.

At the request of the Fire Incident Commander, Klamath County Emergency Management has issued a Level 3 (GO NOW) evacuation for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, between Jaguar Lane/ Racoon Lane and Spaniel Lane/ Crocodile Lane, west of Thrasher Drive. Klamath County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Search and Rescue Volunteers are in the process of evacuating affected residents.

A structure task force form Klamath County has been ordered.  The South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership (SCOFMP) Type 3 Incident Management Team has also been ordered.
