On August 3, 2021, at approximately 3:00 P.M., OSP Troopers from the Oakridge Outpost, La Pine, and Bend Offices responded to the report of a head-on collision on Hwy 58 near milepost 61.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Sentra, driven by Jerry Edward Anderson (61) of Gilchrist, was westbound when he failed to negotiate a corner. The Sentra crossed the eastbound lanes and impacted a guardrail. It then went into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Commercial Motor, driven by Thomas Michael Jennings (45) of Eugene.
Anderson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Jennings was uninjured.
OSP was assisted by Oakridge Fire Department.
So very tragic. He was loved and will be missed by all of us and family
