On October 9, 2021, at approximately 5:01 p.m., officers from the Klamath Falls Police Department responded to the 200 block of Michigan Avenue on a reported stabbing that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim had been transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center with an apparent stab wound to the chest area. The victim was listed in critical condition.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, was stabilized and transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon and underwent surgery. He is currently in stable condition. Responding officers quickly located the responsible subject a few blocks away and took him into custody after a brief struggle. The responsible subject was identified as Jedadiah Decker, 39 years of age, who was lodged at the Klamath County Jail for Attempted Murder, Assault I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting arrest.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was a passenger in a vehicle and driving northbound on Michigan Avenue towards Esplanade Avenue. Decker was riding a bicycle with a trailer attached and started throwing rocks at the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped, and the victim exited the passenger side of the car. The victim walked up to Decker and words were exchanged. Witnesses stated the victim attempted punch Decker, and Decker responded by stabbing the victim in the chest. Decker then fled the scene with the stabbing instrument. The victim got back into the vehicle and was driven to Sky Lakes Medical Center.
