MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT GLEN SZYMONIAK

Dear KCSD families,

The Klamath County School District is implementing a temporary schedule change that replaces late starts on Wednesdays with a two-hour early release for students on Fridays.

The new schedule starts the week of Oct. 25:

  • Late-start Wednesdays are canceled starting Wednesday, Oct. 27. School and bus transportation will run at the regular times on Wednesdays.
  • On Fridays, starting Oct. 29, the school day will end two hours early. Lunch will be provided to students. All bus routes will run two hours earlier.
  • This schedule change will remain in effect indefinitely to alleviate substitute and bus driver shortages.
  • Please note: At this time, Chiloquin Elementary School will remain on its current hybrid learning model schedule.

Families should check their school’s bell schedule to determine Friday’s student release time. Go to www.kcsd.k12.or.us, click on Our Schools, and toggle to your school. If an early release schedule is not yet posted, your child’s release time will be two hours earlier than the release time in the school’s regular daily schedule.

The early release is for students only. Teachers will continue to work on Fridays, and district-sponsored professional development and teacher preparation time (previously during late-start Wednesdays) will move to Friday afternoons.

We are notifying families as soon as this decision was finalized. Schools will provide One Call Now notifications as reminders during the first week of implementation.

Thank you for your ongoing support, flexibility, and patience.

Respectfully,

Glen Szymoniak

Superintendent

Klamath County School District
