Initial deployment of 125 Guard members to hospitals statewide will begin next week
(Salem, OR) — Governor Kate Brown today announced she will be deploying up to 500 Oregon National Guard members to support frontline health care workers as Oregon hospitals face a surge of hospitalizations due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. Beginning next week, an initial 125 Guard members will be deployed to hospitals around the state to provide needed logistical support as materials handlers and equipment runners, as well as assisting with COVID-19 testing and other necessary non-clinical services to support hospital operations. The Oregon Health Authority and Oregon National Guard will continue to work with the hospital systems to monitor ongoing need and determine additional deployments as necessary. “With more than 500 current hospitalizations and daily record-breaking numbers of COVID-19 cases, we are at another critical point in this pandemic—and the Oregon National Guard is stepping up again to assist,” said Governor Kate Brown. “I would like to thank the employers of our Guard members—we cannot call upon these hardworking Guard members without your sacrifice and support as well. While Guard members work to support our frontline health care workers, I am asking all Oregonians to continue to do your part to help. Get vaccinated, get boosted, wear your masks, and stay home when you are sick.” While the Oregon National Guard also has members with health care, nursing, and medical training, many of those members are already hard at work for their civilian employers––Oregon hospitals and health care providers.
OMG! WTF is she thinking?! Omicron has been proven to have less of an impact than the previous strains! It’s all about flexing her power before she is a has been.
She is absolutely pathetic
It is all about letting those she wants to impress that she has power to play with ,not knowing that I don’t know anyone that can hardly wait until she is gone and stays gone.
Thank you Governor, unless you have been in a hospital ER or worked in a hospital setting you should keep your negative comments to yourself. I have person aly witnessed the assistance the guard provides. Thank you goes out to these guard members who answer the call and put themselves at risk to getting sick to make sure you get the medical care YOU or YOUR FAMILY might needin the next three months.
This is seriously so stupid. Deploy 120+ guards for 500 hospitalizations. There are more than 70 hospitals in oregon. That is literally and average of 6 patients per hospital. If oregon can’t handle that… Really?!?!?!?! MYbe if they didn’t force vax on workers they wouldnt quit and we would be just fine for 500 hospitalizations statewide.
Since when do we deploy the National Guard for the common cold!!!??? Surely, we have had 10s of thousands of radical common colds in all these past years! This is an agenda driven push to create fear and behavior! Oregon can we wiped off the map with Krazy Kate any time as far as I’m concerned!
This is B.S. I was told by someone who works in the hospital that patients who ate not vaccinated are treated poorly as well as employees unvaccinated…people open your eyes! This such crap! We are being duped
