Hello KCSD families,
As we prepare for the 2022-23 school year, we want to share information with families who may be considering student transfers. We will begin accepting transfer requests for the 2022-23 school year on March 1, 2022. Please read the information below carefully and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Who needs to fill out a transfer request form?
- Any family wishing to send their student for the first time to a school that is not their “home school” must fill out a transfer request form.Your home school can be found by typing in your address on our school boundary map.
- Even if you have other children on approved transfers from years prior, you need to submit a new transfer request form for any new student you wish to attend a school, other than you home school.
- For example, if you have a third-grader already on an approved transfer and you have another child starting kindergarten, you need to submit a transfer request for your kindergartner since they do not have an approved transfer on file.
Which form do I fill out?
- If you do not live within the Klamath County School District boundaries, fill out an Interdistrict Transfer Form.
- If you live within the Klamath County School District boundaries, but want you student to attend a school other than you home school, fill out an Intradistrict Transfer Form.
Where do I find the forms?
- The forms can be found on our district website – www.kcsd.k12.or.us — under the “Families” tab and “Student Transfer Information.”
Where do I turn in the transfer request form?
- Please email, mail, or fax your transfer request form to District Office secretary Tina McConathy-Smith. Her contact information is mcconathy-smitht@kcsd.k12.or.us; fax (541)885-3358; mailing address: 2845 Greensprings Drive., Klamath Falls, OR 97601.
- Transfer requests will be date and time stamped when they are submitted. This will be one factor we consider when we begin processing them.
When will I find out if my transfer is approved?
- Due to increasing growth in housing in KCSD neighborhoods, we need to manage class size by processing transfers late in the summer and after school begins. To avoid overcrowding, it is critical for us to know class sizes with all of the students who live within the school’s boundaries before we approve transfers.
- Transfers will be processed on a school-by-school and class-by-class basis based on available seats.
Sincerely,
Heather Harper
Director of Human Resources
Klamath County School District
