Tuesday August 23, 2022 Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputies served search warrants on two illegal marijuana grow locations in the area of Yainax Dr and Pinina Circle north of Beatty, OR. Deputies oversaw the destruction of both grow locations.

Both locations had a combined total in excess of 1400 marijuana plants along with an undisclosed amount of processed marijuana. One location has a single domestic use well and suspects had installed a water system to serve both grow locations. Deputies estimate that both locations were responsible for the illegal or misappropriated use of over 1,250,000 gallons of water. KCSO has recently adjusted our method of calculating the water usage after learning that we were under estimating the water consumption.

Sheriff Chris Kaber states: “We seem to be having an impact at disrupting the organized criminal activity that is largely responsible for these illegal grows. The locations we’re finding this year are smaller and we’re seeing that they are having to harvest early with much lower yields than in the past. These smaller sites enable us to destroy them quickly and allow our detectives to hit more locations. This coupled with the recent grant we received from the state will allow us to have more resources to take down more sites for years to come.”
