On December 19th, 2023, Officers with the Klamath Falls Police Department responded to the report of a robbery at 1414 Oregon Avenue, Tyler’s Texas BBQ. The victim reported while he was in the gambling room at the location playing a machine, an unknown male approached him and demanded his wallet and money while brandishing a knife. The unknown suspect took the money from the victim to include his cash out ticket from the machine and fled the location in a silver SUV.
Through the investigation, officers believed they were looking for a silver SUV with a partial Oregon license plate and had a good description of the male suspect. Shortly after officers cleared the location, they located a vehicle matching the description in the area of North 9th Street and Grant Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop and located a male in the back seat matching the description. The male was later identified as 31-year-old Payton Denny who was later arrested and charged with Robbery 1 and Unlawfully Use of a Weapon.
