Shooting Incident on Cannon Avenue Leads to Arrest

Klamath Falls, OR – On Friday, March 28, 2025, at approximately 4:23 p.m., Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Cannon Avenue and Fargo Street following reports of gunfire.


Deputies determined that Mario Zambrano (19) was walking toward a nearby nature trail near the Cedar Gardens Apartments, located at 4500 Cannon Street, when a male suspect in a blue sedan fired at him. Surveillance footage confirmed the shooting.

A family member transported Zambrano to Sky Lakes Medical Center, where medical staff determined he had been struck once in the abdomen. The bullet ricocheted off a rib, but Zambrano’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Through investigation, deputies identified the shooter as Dominic Hernandez (18). With assistance from the Klamath Falls Police Department, Hernandez was taken into custody without incident near Division Street and Union Avenue.

Hernandez was booked into the Klamath County Jail on the following charges:
• Assault in the Second Degree
• Unlawful Use of a Weapon
• Recklessly Endangering Another Person
