On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 10:52 a.m., the Klamath Falls Police Department responded to a welfare check in a vacant residence located at 875 Cypress Avenue in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Klamath 911 dispatch advised that a person reported an unhoused man was inside, and the man was naked and appeared to have been assaulted. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries because of the assault and was immediately transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center. After the victim was stabilized, he was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries, and the Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated since the case was escalated to a homicide investigation.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned there were three suspects involved in the death of the victim. On Friday, February 27, 2026, at 6:05 a.m., one of the three suspects was located and arrested without incident. The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Jamie S. Harrington, and she was later transported to the Klamath County Jail and lodged for Kidnapping in the 1st Degree and Criminal Conspiracy for Murder in the 1st Degree.

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:33 p.m., the second suspect was located during a high-risk traffic stop and taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Reggie L. Townsend Jr., and was transported to the Klamath County Jail and lodged for Murder in the 1st Degree, Kidnapping in the 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Tampering with Evidence, and Felon Possession of a Firearm.


On Monday, March 2, 2026, at 2:02 p.m., the third suspect was located during a traffic stop and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Wesley J. Powless, and he was later transported to the Klamath County Jail and lodged for Murder in the 2nd Degree, Kidnapping in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, and Tampering with Evidence.
