On 3-18-18 at about 1:28pm The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop a new silver Toyota Tacoma pickup at Laverne and Bisbee streets in rural Klamath Falls. The driver of the Toyota immediately fled and the pursuit went down Summers Lane and to the South Side Bypass. The driver then fled to Highway 39 and turned south where speeds reached at least 100mph.

The driver lost control of the pickup at about Highway 39 and Matney Road. The pickup rolled about 5 times at around 100mph. The driver was arrested at the scene and there was also a female passenger in the pickup truck. Both driver and passenger were then rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Police have been looking for a newer stolen Toyota pickup taken last week from the Lithia Toyota lot. It is not known if the pickup is from this same theft or not.

Police deployed spike strips to try and stop the truck once near Summers Lane. The driver swerved and avoided them.  Police then deployed them ahead of the pursuit on highway 39 but the driver crashed before encountering them the second time.
