Suspect in custody after high speed pursuit in Merrill/Malin area.

A high speed pursuit has just occurred in the Merrill and Malin area. At about 4pm Police conducted a high risk arrest operation in the Merrill area. Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputies and likely other police officers surrounded an unknown location near Merrill to attempt to arrest a suspect. The suspect fled in with is reported to be a brown pickup. At one point “drop the gun” could be heard over the radio as the pursuit began.

An aircraft was also involved in the pursuit and it quickly went into California. The pursuit continued with CHP and Tulelake P.D. with K.C. Sheriff units following.

The pursuit then returned to Oregon. The suspect drove through at one least yard before returning to the road.

During the chase the suspect swerved around spike strips that were deployed in Merrill.

After about 30 minutes of chasing the suspect, police were able to take the suspect into custody at the Malin Motel room 14. Medical has been called to the scene.

This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available. We also believe other suspects may have been arrested at the original location where this started. We currently do not have information about the reason for the arrest attempts.
