Crater Lake Now Closed To Vehicles Due To Government Shutdown
Government Shutdown Emergency Update:
Due to human health and safety hazards, Crater Lake National Park has been closed to vehicles at Highway 62.
Highway 62 through the park will remain open but the road to the lake is closed. Visitors may snowshoe, ski, or walk the approximately 7 miles each way from Hwy 62 to the rim, but must stay off the plowed roads as they are still being used for emergency access.
Visitors are reminded that there are no National Park Service provided services including restrooms, visitor information, or backcountry permits. Emergency services and road maintenance such as snow plowing and sanding are limited.
To report an emergency call 9-1-1. Be aware that many areas of the park do not have cell phone reception. Closures are enforceable under federal law.
