At about 2pm today a serious injury motor vehicle accident (MVA) was reported at South Side Bypass and Summer’s Lane. Oregon State Police Troopers, Klamath County Sheriff Deputies, Klamath County Fire District 1, and other emergency crews responded. A Sheriff Deputy arrived a short time later finding two vehicles (a mini van and Dodge pickup) had collided head on. The deputy reported that a 52 year old male had difficulty breathing and a possible broken leg.

Emergency crews shut down the South Side Bypass in both directions while the patients were treated and the accident scene was processed. ODOT incident response provided traffic control. At about 2:52pm ODOT reported that one lane was open with flaggers.

One patient was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center with major injuries. The trauma system was activated. We will update with additional information if it becomes available. ODOT has not announced the South Side Bypass being fully opened as of posting time of this article. However, Trip Check is not showing any delays currently in that area.
