Breaking News Fire

A fire yesterday morning around 9:45am at Plaza Manor Mobile Home Park on Summer’s Lane has led to an arrest for arson.

At around 9:45am July 4th, Klamath County Fire District 1, Klamath County Sheriff, And Klamath Falls City Police responded to a structure fire at 2425 Summer’s Lane Space #40 which is just south of the intersection at Summers and 6th.


Upon arrival of the fire department, a mobile home was found to be fully engulfed in flames. Summers Lane was rapidly closed while fire crews battled the fire. The road was closed for some time during the fire and the investigation.

While fire crews battled the fire, A sheriff deputy quickly detained two people of interest along Summers Lane and the OC&E bike path trail. Police Officers from Klamath Falls City Police responded for backup and to assist the sheriff deputy who first detained the suspects.

Klamath Alerts is aware that fire crews responded to the same address roughly six days ago for a couch fire.

An arrest has been made in connection with this fire. Stacey Machelle Cummings has been arrested and lodged in Klamath County Jail for Arson 1.

From the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office:

On Thursday July 4, 2019 at 0943 hours, deputies and Fire District #1 were dispatched to Plaza Gardens Mobile Home Park at 2425 Summers Lane Space 42 on a report of a trailer fully engulfed in flames. The Deputy responding was familiar with the trailer and residents from previous contacts.

He observed the residents walking away from the scene carrying belongings. Stacy CUMMINGS, and her sister were contacted. After a brief investigation CUMMINGS was arrested and lodged for Arson I. A Klamath County District 1 Fireman suffered minor injuries during the course of the fire. Two neighbors were transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center for smoke inhalation.
