Tulelake Woman Killed In Highway 50 Crash Early This Morning
On Saturday, September 7, 2019 at approximately 4:11 A.M. Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 50 near milepost 19.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Silver 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by Jessica Harris (33) of Tulelake, CA. was traveling southbound on Hwy 50 when for unknown reasons the Jeep veered off the road and struck a utility pole.
Harris sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Hwy 50 was closed for three hours following the crash. The crash scene was located between Merrill and Malin on Highway 50.
OSP was assisted by Merrill Fire and ODOT.

She introduced herself as Jess. She took care of me where she had just gotten a job. She was a kind calm spirit woman that had a great demeanor for her job. That night she left she wasn’t feeling well. I still can’t imagine this happened.

Jess was an amazing friend and an amazing person. I’m glad you got to meet her, I’m going to miss her.
After my bed frame broke and I was trapped at precarious angle on the floor. Jess sat with my head and chest in her lap knowing that I suffer from claustrophobia. Jess calmly talked to me and helped me through a rough time. We waited together for the EMT people to arrive. Again I will miss her and the world of caregivers will miss her because she had sincere compassion.
