Suspicious package found at Grocery Outlet on Saturday closes store for hours
On Saturday, November 16, 2019 at about 12:35PM, deputies were dispatched to the Grocery Outlet located in the 4300 block of South Sixth Street for a reported suspicious package located at the business. Store management alerted law enforcement after workers performing maintenance discovered a suspicious package.
Deputies arriving on scene observed the device and quickly evacuated the store and other surrounding businesses. Bomb Technicians from Oregon State Police were called in and removed the device. After x-raying the device, bomb technicians advised deputies that it was inert and posed no threat.
Deputies from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, along with Oregon State Police bomb squad technicians from out of town responded. Shortly after the evacuation the entrance to Grocery Outlet and the Eastside Liquor Store were blocked off and guarded by a deputy until OSP bomb technicians could arrive.
