KLAMATH FALLS, OR – November 29, 2023. The City of Klamath Falls is offering low- income senior citizen snow removal assistance this winter. On request, qualifying senior citizens who are residents of the City may request assistance in removing snow from paved driveways and sidewalks at their homes.
Qualification Criteria:
Income:
- Single – $26,600 annual gross
- Couple – $30,400 annual gross
Age:
- Must be at least 60 years of age
Residence:
- Must be a single-family residence, the principal residence for the applicant and must be located within the Klamath Falls city limits.
Registration:
Seniors wishing to register may pick up a registration application form from Klamath Falls City Police Department located at 2501 Shasta Way or download the application from the City’s website www.klamathfalls.city. Program registration may occur at any time throughout the winter.
Calls for Assistance:
During the coming winter, registered seniors may call City Code Enforcement at (541) 883-5358 to request assistance. On a first come basis, Monday through Friday, the City will dispatch a private contractor to the residence to remove the snow and/or ice as soon as possible. The City will pay the contractor directly. The City will only respond to individual calls for assistance during the winter. Absent a call for assistance, the City will not automatically dispatch crews.
Limitations:
The City has budgeted $2,000 for this program for the 2023-2024 winter. In the event these funds are expended in total, the program may immediately be discontinued.
The City retains the right to decline or discontinue providing snow removal assistance in instances of excessive or unreasonable requests.
