COMMUNICATIONS ALERT — Wrights Spring Fire
The Wrights Spring Fire is threatening a key communications site near Swan Lake. If the fire reaches and damages it, parts of the area could lose cell service, including Verizon and AT&T, along with 911, dispatch communications, and ODOT communications. That also means some residents may not receive evacuation alerts through their devices, and it could be harder to reach 911 in affected areas.
Crews are working to protect the site, and backup communication options are being planned. There is no outage right now, but conditions can change quickly, so we’re asking the community to be prepared.
Please don’t rely on your cell phone alone for evacuation notice. Take a few minutes now to get ready:
- Know your evacuation zone before you need it. - Have a backup way to get information in case cell and internet go down.
- Don’t wait for an alert. If you see fire or feel unsafe, leave. If a deputy or firefighter tells you to go, go immediately.
- Have a go-bag ready, keep your vehicle fueled, and know your route out.
- Check on neighbors – especially older residents, residents with disabilities, or anyone who may not receive an alert.
