Klamath Falls donut (and coffee) fans are on high alert and eagerly anticipating the opening of “The Doughnut House” on May 14th.

Years of Baking Experience

The new establishment is owned and operated by Daniel Eytchison who has been baking since about 1979. Daniel has established and sold several bakeries in the past including West Side Bakery in Bend, and a West Side Bakery in La Grande. Additionally, he established a popular bakery in Enterprise, Oregon called “The Firehouse Bakery”. It was later sold and renamed Cloud 9 Bakery. Daniel said that he really enjoys baking and it is his passion. It’s a job he looks forward to each day.

The Coffee

The Doughnut House will offer coffee from Griffin Coffee Roasters out of the Rogue Valley area. Additionally, The Doughnut House will offer cappuccino, mochas, lattes, hot chocolate and tea.

The “Doughnuts”

The Doughnut House offers a fresh variety of cake, glazed, decorated, stuffed, fritters, and speciality donuts including an “attitude donut” along with bear claws and pull-a-parts. Daniel has a policy about the leftover donuts (assuming there are any) that are not sold during the day. He donates them to charities or people in need.

Drive Thru Concept

The inside of the Doughnut House is warm and inviting. The walls are lined with collectables including models of star ships, rail road memorabilia, and even R2D2 from Star Wars. The business is based on a “to go” and drive thru concept to service customers in a hurry.  It will be an easy and convenient place to stop on the way to work (or maybe on the way home too) to pickup some coffee and donuts for the office or family.

Extended Hours

Daniel said he plans to open the bakery at 5am and after getting a feel for demand he will likely close each day sometime between 2pm and 6pm depending on the customer flow. He is also considering being open 7 days a week.

Heavy Demand Expected

The grand opening week is expected to be very busy. Until things “settle down” to a more normal flow it is recommended you allow a little extra time and a little patience when you visit.

The Grand Opening is this Monday May 14th at 5am. It will probably be a long and busy day for the staff there. We look forward to trying the “Doughnuts” and wish Daniel all the best in his newest venture. It was a lot of fun to sit down and visit with him.

They are located at 5019 South Sixth Street near Wiard.
