Did you get one of these messages in Facebook messenger this week?
This message has been circulating around Facebook messenger over the past few days. The message is a hoax and does not need to be passed on. It does not mean your account has been hacked or cloned.
Here are a few things you can do to protect your Facebook account if you suspect there is a security breach:
- Logout of your account and then log back in and change your password
- Don’t accept friend requests from people you are already friends with
- Don’t pass on viral Facebook posts or messenger traffic you suspect is fake
- Search facebook for your own name and report suspicious accounts to Facebook
Passing the above message on does not do anything but help to circulate the hoax. There are sometimes cloned accounts, and there was an epidemic around 18 months ago with them. However, we have confirmed this message is a hoax and is not connected to any cloned accounts.
