About two hours ago, reports of an active shooter at Walter Reed Medical in Bethesda, MD were surfacing. U.S. Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger was there when he received a notice of an active shooter. A medical center employee also reported hiding in a closet with patients during the event. Early reports are that no mention of a drill or training were present with the alert.

The above Twitter post from a medical center employee shows the active shooter warning. No mention of a drill.

Twitter posts from Congressman Ruppersberger also say there was no indication of a drill.

We are guessing that you don’t want to scare a Congressman (or employees and patients) and have them hide in a back room while a training drill occurs. There will no doubt be an investigation into how this drill turned into a real emergency.
